X Brief: Daily X (Twitter) Digest Bot

X Brief is a Hermes Agent bot for founders, marketers and anyone who follows a beat on X. It reads the accounts, topics and searches you pick and turns them into one short brief, so you get the signal without the scroll.

What is X Brief, and what does it do?

X Brief reads what landed on your watch list since the last run and groups it by theme in one dated brief, leading with the one thing worth knowing. Every item is a real post it opened, with a link, and the same post never lands twice. A quiet day gets one line. It's read-only: it never posts, replies, likes or DMs.

What are its skills?

  • Build the X watch list: add, drop or review accounts, topics and searches, kept short at about ten accounts and five searches.
  • Daily X brief and weekly X recap: the day's items grouped by theme, and the week pulled into the themes that held.
  • Read a thread or post: a three-to-five-line summary of the claim, the evidence and the strongest pushback, flagging anything it couldn't verify.
  • Draft a post or reply: two drafts under 280 characters, built from something in the brief, only when you ask. You post them yourself.

Who should use X Brief?

It's for people who need to stay current on X without living there. It isn't a general research assistant, and it doesn't give growth advice.

  • Founders following their market
  • Marketers tracking a beat or creators
  • Anyone with a mute list longer than their follow list

How does X Brief work?

Getting started takes a few steps.

  1. Give it X access (see the options below), then name the accounts you want to watch.
  2. Name the topics and searches to watch, and anything to leave out.
  3. Say yes to the daily brief when it offers it after setup, and pick the hour and days.
  4. Read the brief and open only the links that matter.

How does X Brief work day to day?

Each session it checks which X access works and says so in one line. There are two setup options:

  • Option A, Hermes's built-in X search (x_search): in the Terminal, run hermes tools, choose Search and turn on X search.
  • Option B, xurl: X's official API tool, connected to your own X developer app. You run the sign-in steps yourself in the Terminal, and X bills for API use.
  • Neither? It asks you to paste posts, threads or links, and briefs those.

Public x.com pages often need a login, so it can't build a daily brief from the open web alone, and it tells you so.

The morning read

If you said yes to the daily brief, it arrives at your chosen hour (weekdays by default), grouped by theme. You skim it and open only the links that matter.

The Friday wrap

If you said yes to the weekly recap, every Friday it pulls the week into the themes that held, voices worth adding, accounts that went quiet, and what to read this weekend.

What do requests and results look like?

Here are a few requests and the kind of answer you get back.

You: "Watch these ten accounts and the topic AI agents."

X Brief: A watch list confirmed back to you, then a first brief.

You: "What happened on X today?"

X Brief: Today's items grouped by theme, each line with its link.

You: "Summarize this thread."

X Brief: A short summary of the thread you pasted, with the link.

What does X Brief do on its own, and which tools does it use?

Nothing runs on a schedule unless you say yes. After setup it offers each routine once.

  • Daily X brief: once a day at the hour you pick.
  • Weekly X recap: every Friday.

It reads X through Hermes's X search or xurl, or from posts you paste. Slack, Notion and Linear are optional: connect them yourself in Hermes. The brief stays in Hermes unless you say otherwise.

X Brief FAQ

Does it post for me?

No. It only drafts a post or reply when you ask, and never posts on your behalf.

Do I need to connect X?

For a daily brief, yes: Hermes's built-in X search (Option A) or xurl with your own X developer app (Option B). Without either, paste posts, threads or links and it briefs those. It never asks for keys in chat.

What happens on a quiet day?

You get one line instead of filler.

How to install X Brief

You need Hermes Agent 0.22.5 or newer and an AI connection already set up in Hermes.

  2. Download the .zip from the same page. There's no need to unzip it.
